What does Liminal mean?
Liminal space is the transition between where you've been and where you're headed. It's the moment when the familiar is left behind, but the future hasn't fully come into view.
While this space can feel uncertain and disorienting, it also provides opportunities for growth and transformation.
The wisdom pattern is the idea that life follows a repeating cycle of order, disorder, and reorder. This pattern suggests that by facing challenges and uncertainties, both individuals and communities experience growth and transformation.
Moving through this cycle helps develop resilience, adaptability, and a focus on positive change. As a person moves from the stable phase of order into disorder, they enter a liminal space—a time of significant personal change and transition.
Wisdom is understanding the value of these transitional phases. Rather than fearing them, you can see them as opportunities for personal growth, learning, and a time to let go of what no longer serves you on your life journey.
In the order phase, we experience a sense of stability and comfort. Routines and familiar patterns provide a feeling of control, making life feel predictable and well-organized. This stability contributes to mental clarity and a sense of well-being.
The disorder phase is a time of mental instability and confusion. During this phase, familiar routines and ways of thinking break down, leading to feelings of uncertainty and unpredictability. Although challenging, this stage is essential for growth, as it pushes us to gain new insights and perspectives.
In the reorder phase, new insights gained from the disorder phase help create a stronger, more resilient mindset. This new way of thinking goes beyond the old patterns, representing a transformation rather than a return to the past. The result is a renewed foundation, preparing us for the next stage of life experiences.
